Extending Length of Fields in Spectrum

I need to add an additional space to the length of the Field for our Subcontract Number. Does anyone know how I can do that, or, if I can do that?

    Field length increases have been requested over the years for a number of fields within Spectrum, but very few have had their size increased. Even the UDF fields are limited to 20 characters which can be cumbersome at times. The hesitation on their part to increase the field sizes could be related to require GUI layout changes to facilitate the size differences as well as the reporting impacts. Yes, it's frustrating!

    Unless there's a custom development solution, all fields have a fixed maximum field length.
